Overland Park is where I shoot most of my Johnson County sessions. The Arboretum alone gives us meadow, woodland, and water in one evening, which is why so many families book it for their annual portraits.

Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens
The most variety of any spot in the metro — open meadow, shaded paths, and water. Best in April through June and again in mid-October. There is a small entry fee per person.
Neighborhood green space near you
For families with newborns or toddlers, we often skip the drive entirely and use a park within a few blocks of home.
