- Where are you based, and do you travel?
- I'm based in Lenexa, Kansas and photograph throughout the greater Kansas City area on both sides of the state line. I'm happy to travel farther for the right session — just mention it in your inquiry. If it is beyond 30 miles, a travel fee will be included.
- Do you shoot with natural light or flash?
- Natural light! Outdoor sessions are timed to golden hour (1-2 hours before sunset), and in-home newborn sessions use whatever window light your house already has — which is why I ask about your brightest rooms when we plan the day.
- How long is a session?
- Session length depends on the session type! Check out the Investment page for more info. I am not rigid on time lengths. If we need more time, I will give it! If we can get a session wrapped up more quickly, I will always do it!! We will wrap up when you and I both feel good about it.
- Are there additional costs for more photos?
- Pricing is straightforward. You owe the amount listed on the Investment page, and for that price, you will receive the best photos from your session.
- How many photos will I get, and when?
- Image counts are set by the collection you choose. However, I often give more images than the number listed. Every session is delivered as a private online gallery you can download from and share. Galleries will be delivered via email.
- When should we schedule a newborn session?
- It is highly recommended to reach out during second trimester so that I can put your due date on my calendar. Then, once your newborn arrives, let me know and we will put the session date on the calendar! If you reach out for the first time after baby has already arrived, it is unlikely that I will be able to squeeze you in within the recommended time-frame of the first 2-3 weeks.
- What should we wear?
- You can never go wrong with soft, warm neutrals! When planning photos with multiple people, think color coordination rather than color matching! I will send a full wardrobe guide when you book.
- What if it rains?
- Weather happens. If the forecast won't work for outdoor light, we will reschedule to the next date that works for both of us — no fee for a weather move.
- What's the best time of day to shoot?
- Golden hour, almost always. I typically start about 90 minutes before sunset, when the light is soft and warm. In-home newborn sessions are the exception — those are usually mid-morning when the house is brightest.
- Do you photograph extended families and large groups?
- Yes. Extended family collections are on the Investment page, and larger groups are welcome — tell me the head count in your inquiry so I can plan the location and timing. I will capture all little families and various groupings.
